A two hour open discussion on the role of continuing education on the Internet in the context of the looming human resources crisis in mining. Anyone with an interest or experience of continuing education, distance learning, online learning or engineer-in training-programs is invited to attend and contribute. Key questions to be considered include ...
• what models exist for continuing education on the Internet?
• how effective are the online learning and certification processes?
• how can we compensate in online learning for the peer-review and mentoring aspects that are such an important part of classroom learning?
• how important is college or university accreditation in any online learning and certification process?
• how can continuing education on the Internet be integrated with corporate EIT programs?
The forum will be moderated by Malcolm Scoble, Professor and Head of Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia , and Simon Houlding, Head of EduMine, the professional development division of InfoMine Inc..
